I mean, if anybody that actually liked the game was willing to analyze the mechanics and try and argue for its inclusion, we'd be in business.

Yeah, it's just plain stupid. lol
They don't have too much thought when it comes to serious discussions since their opinions cloud their judgment. Not to mention most of the people there don't even know much about DMC4 so they automatically think DmC is completely better than the previous games.

I found a couple of neat things while fucking around. For one, the spiral stinger (which I think can also apply to streak and big slick) where you circle around the enemy when you use stinger. I don't know how to make it happen on command, but I think it looks neat and could be used for some actually cool stuff. Another is chaining revenant bomb and kablooey. There was something else, but I don't remember right now. I am gonna look into it though, because despite the shit characters and story, I'd hate to see this game get marked as non-cuhrayzee if it is cuhrayzee. I guess I wanna conquer the game, is how I see it. It's shit, but can it be cuhrayzee shit? It seems like the mechanics make it really easy to not be cuhrayzee, but that's that.

But from what I see Kablooey is as deep as this shithole goes. It's like this game was built for Kail or something.

Casualized subpar hack'n'slash game that's not worthy of the DMC name but still an above average Western game nonetheless

I refuse to play it for moral reasons, but I've read very convincing arguments from great DMC players that the game is fucking shit, so I'll just agree. On the other hand, asian players seem to like it, so who knows.

I feel like glitch tricks are the only thing that could save it.
Which is sad as fuck.

I meant in terms of cuhrayzee.
Spanish edition is just a flat out good game.

There's too much stuff in the game that makes anyone decide to stop trying to style on enemies and instead cheese them with all you got. Color-coded enemies, lack of lock-on, and the silly weapon-balancing, as well as how certain actions are mapped (due to lack of lock-on, you now have to press jump and shoot to do gun specials, for instance), at least for me these are huge marks against the game and why it doesn't count.

I really would love to know what our reaction to this game would have been if it had just been called Demon Hunter. I am seriously so curious. I feel like it would have been considered an oddity at best, we'd probably call it the closest to cuhrayzee the west has ever gotten.

It's a shame that most of the people who like the game whine and bitch "omg dont hate muh game u h9er" instead of providing facts. Fun times. >devilmaycry.org Most of them don't even know half of what happens in the combo videos they praise, let alone make above average footage. I've seen players praise average players more than good players, almost overrated as Kail. But yo, DmC iz mour fluid and bettur combat m9. I've activated it in the demo by Propshredder- cancel it with angel dodge on the first hit, teleporting you back to your original position- streak. Kablooey is the weapon that arguably has the most depth in DmC, however when compared to Lucifer from DMC4, its like having a retarded cousin. As much as I hate to say it though, DmC may be cuhrayzee in terms of combo potential. Other games whose main strength is combat depth have less in comparison to DmC, but then again, you could argue that these are indie games, unlike DmC. In terms of overall gameplay, DmC has some issues. I think I've seen only one video with good gameplay. As for it being stylish, that's kinda subjective. I wonder what it would be like if it were to be considered cuhrayzee. Ahh the flame wars and crappy defenders <3

I think it's mostly because I missed out on DMC when I was growing up, but DmC was my first Devil May Cry branded game. I had really low expectations going in, I'm talking lowest of the low. Also I only paid two dollars for a new sealed copy on clearance. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, despite the cheesy story, hard-to-like characters, and pretty repetitive gameplay. I did really enjoy the combat system though. I liked holding down the triggers to switch between your angel and demon weapons and thought the chain and whip mechanics made zooming around the battlefield and in the air pretty easy. I do agree that lock-on was sorely missed and I had many instances of grabbing onto the wrong enemy with my chain, which was especially frustrating when dealing with enemies that 'needed' two successive grabs to stun/take away a shield [the little flying fuckers, for instance]. I also agree that the red/blue color-coded enemies that you could only use one type of weapon or the other on was a bit lame, but I felt like the wave patterns [at least on my first Nephelim playthrough] were fairly balanced that it was a non-issue.
The best thing is that it got me hyped and motivated enough to finally pick up DMC HD Collection, so I can experience 'the good ones'. I wish I could give a more in-depth answer and discuss the finer points of techniques and mechanics, but I just haven't been around/playing long enough to educatedly speak on the topic.
I will say that I will return to DmC for a Son of Sparda, Dante Must Die, and maybe even Hell or Hell run if I really hate myself.
