Rain Blood Chronicles: Mirage
============================================
- Side scrolling beat 'em up. Resembles a 2D version of Devil May Cry set in the Eastern area.
- Fairly deep combat system
- Accessories can be used to deepen movelist options/increase damage input, and etc.
- Can control two characters (Shang and Soul) which expands the combat system even further.
- Enemies aren't very challenging, but when crowded they can overcome you.
- Some bosses are interesting (the first two bosses were pretty decent. Water Lord is pretty good too) Some other bosses are stationary and don't allow you to combo them. (Cocoon Lord is a prime example).
- Can get quite hectic in certain areas, causing you to lose track of your character.
- Hitlag can be pretty annoying and inconsistent due to critical moves happening at random intervals.
- Special attacks require meter, but can be easily maintained to your favor.
- Poor translation. Doesn't hinder too much from gameplay experience.
- Scoring system is pretty brutal if you are taking too much damage/not getting S rank while fighting.
- Slightly hard to maintain S rank unless you have the proper accessory setup for it.
- S rank blurs the screen to a point where you will have a tough time figuring out where your character is.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN - Soul
====================================================================================
====================================================================================
Basic Understanding
------------------------
- Has 18 moves in total (Most moves can be also used in midair)
- Really good aerial mobility, can cancel attacks with a dodge. (Can only dodge twice in repeated sessions.)
- Really good with juggling enemies on a single based combat standard. Suffers with crowd control but evade + counter makes up for it.
- Controls are reminiscent to a 2D version of Dante.
- Has decent aerial combat and can easily juggle the enemy indefinitely.
- Has an aerial launcher that keeps enemies in midair.
- Has Dante's Million Stab (Soul's can be used in midair), Drive (DMC4's drive), and Helm Breaker. All function similar to Dante's.
Movement Options
---------------------------------
-- • Ghost Step • --
====================

Ghost Step (his dodge) can be used to move in the air at short intervals like a teleport. Can be used twice in succession before needing to cool down for a short period of time. The best thing that this move has to offer is being able to use it in order to cancel out attack animations. In addition to this, Ghost step can reverse attack hitboxes if used right at the moment where the hitbox is out.

-- • Blink • --
===============
Animation of Blink: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8068667/rbc%20webm/blink2.webm
Blink is a horizontal, single hit move that doesn't cause much knockback. It can be used in midair to also create distance from the opponent or can be use to approach an opponent. It's aerial version has a lot less startup than the grounded version (which makes it really useful in midair). Overall, it's a fairly quick move that gains a good amount of distance. The endlag is quite noticeable and cannot be cancelled unless you switch out.

-- • Guillotine • --
====================
Animation of Guillotine: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8068667/rbc%20webm/guillotine.webm
Guillotine is a vertical, downward slash which is very similar to Dante's Helm Breaker. It can only be use in midair and is very useful when wanting to descend quickly to the ground. The one flaw about this move is the hitlag, which can be considerably noticeable when landing a critical attack. It is possible to reverse Guillotine by attacking away from the enemy and immediately using Guillotine afterwards. The Light Slash (due to it's big hitbox) should hit the enemy while making Soul face away from the enemy in midair.
This move is essentially his bread n' butter. Make sure you get this first along with the second Ghost Step.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN - Shang
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
- Has 19 moves in total. (Most moves can also be used in midair)
- Really good aerial mobility but lacks a solid aerial combat that keeps him in midair,
- Really good with keeping the enemy in air, VERY good at positioning enemies within combos due to summoned swords and heavy based attacks. EXTREMELY GOOD CROWD CONTROL.
- Controls are reminiscent to a 2D version of Vergil.
- Uses Summoned Swords in order to position enemies. With the right setup, he can be borderline broken. Swords can also used via heavy and light. Light swords are used for stalling the opponent or dragging them across screen. Heavy swords provide the same mechanics but are larger, has more range, and travels slowly.
- Lacks cancelling. Cannot cancel certain attacks (Some attacks can be cancelled in midair)
When characters are combined together, Rain Blood Chronicles shines the most since you can come up with intricate combos that actually require proper execution (mainly with Shang). The problem is gathering currency to unlock all of Soul/Shang's skill. Unfortunately, currency isn't shared between the two characters so you need to do excessive grinding for the both of them if you want to get their skills unlocked.
